I recently found some very fancy Quebecois lettuce in my kitchen, a canadian company called Mirabel. The company claims that the roots attached to the lettuce keep it alive so that it is healthier and tastier. I used to be a produce boy and I have eaten a lot of lettuce in my time. It did taste better than most of the local organic and ecological lettuce I used to prep but it wasn’t super special.
