Some Digital Photography Lighting Tips
Bounce, Bounce, Bounce
For most shooting situations you are going to want to bounce your light off of something before it hits the person you want to photograph. I use white drop cloths, the backs of posters, really anything that is white and easy to position. This will make erotic or boudoir photography look amazing.
Shine, Shine, Shine
Right before the sun goes down it turns an amazing orange and becomes soft and beautiful. This is when you want to photograph anything. It is the golden hour and no matter how horrible of a photographer you are, things will look amazing.
Some Interior Photography Tips
1. Hire a stylist. I’m really not kidding about this one, let someone else deal with the bedding, the lamps and everything else and just focus on the shot.
2. Have lots of light bulbs. Your eye and the camera see the world very differently, your existing lighting will look horrible. Replace every bulb with a higher wattage full spectrum bulb. I recently read that for one interior shot a photographer used 47 different lights. You will need 48. This will make your interior spaces look amazing.
3. Climb on things. Yes you really need to climb on things, move stuff, arrange the furniture. Add a rug. Cover up a skylight.
4. Fake it. Fake it. Fake it.
