My favorite reason to visit the New Hampshire state park system is that the parks don’t ever close they just become hazardous. In the case of Fort Stark and Odiorne State Park the state hasn’t done much to block access to the hazardous areas. As with any dangerous area, you should use caution when exploring places that may not be safe.
As I have mentioned before,Odiorne State Park is an interesting mix of military, private and public ambitions. The military’s need to defend the harbor during war time is now the adventurers dream. The ruins of Battery Seaman and Fort Dearborn sit in a semi forbidden state waiting to be explored. I’m most fascinated by the graffiti at Battery Seaman and Fort Stark.
