You can learn a lot about a building or space by using your camera. Hold your camera up and try to get parts of the building to align perfectly with the thirds marker in your viewfinder. If you are looking at a piece of vernacular architecture, you should have a hard time connecting the dots. If you are looking at Dartmouth’s Rauner Hall, the dots should connect quickly. You can use this trick to decifer if a building is old or is just built to look old.
