My friends have decided to take advantage of the real estate crash and buy a home. This is what I have learned from shopping with them.
- TLC : This abbreviation should mean, Tender Loving Care but in this market it means, tear down and rebuild.
- A Real Gem!: Something is really really wrong with this house. It could have black mold or maybe a cesspool.
- Unknown: Unknown is a legal way of saying Yes without putting off potential buyers. unknown gets really scary when talking about septic systems or leans.

You can learn a lot about a building or space by using your camera. Hold your camera up and try to get parts of the building to align perfectly with the thirds marker in your viewfinder. If you are looking at a piece of vernacular architecture, you should have a hard time connecting the dots. If you are looking at Dartmouth’s Rauner Hall, the dots should connect quickly. You can use this trick to decifer if a building is old or is just built to look old.
